I found here interesting theory, which Bob Kane used to create “Batman’s characters. And for some reason it matches the Femdom distinction between catsuits and collars. See what he says:

Later, she wore a dress with a hood that came with ears, and still later, a catsuit with attached boots and either a domino or glasses-mask. In the 1960s, Catwoman’s catsuit was green in color, which was typical of villains of that era. In the 1990s, she usually wore a skintight purple catsuit, before switching to a black PVC catsuit that recalls Michelle Pfeiffer’s costume in Batman Returns.

She played Selina Kyle – a timid office worker who becomes Catwoman after being pushed from a window and revived by the yowling of a group of cats. Pfeiffer had been nominated twice for an Oscar; a bullwhip, naturally, was something she could handle.

Recently we could observe increasing popularity of catsuits on the stage. Last year Rihanna rocked out at American Idol in black PVC catsuit.  Yeah, I know – let’s ignore what Rihanna says about BDSM and focus on other aspects of her existence, which she copes with much better – Fetish fashion.
